King of the Hammers 2020

Johnson Valley, CA… home to the most insane and challenging off road race in the nation. King of the Hammers!! As we came into this year’s event, we not only got excited because of Jordan Pellegrino, but his dad Tony Pellegrino came out of retirement to race in the infamous Terremoto Jeep. As we got all setup for the first couple days of desert life, we did different photo/video shoots with some partners of ours including Yukon Gear and Axle, R1 Concepts, and Scosche inc. We were also joined by two new ambassadors for their first-ever KOH experience. The Pandra and Trail Reaper! Both these vehicles are extremely capable and the drivers, Allyn Pierce and Scott Durkin were eager to put to them test for the first time as members of the Rockstar team. Scott got the opportunity to test out the Trail Reaper’s new Mickey Thompson Baja Pro XS’s and absolutely loved their performance and The Pandra’s strengths as an Overland build had the perfect opportunity to shine in the desert. This year was definitely one of the busiest we’ve seen out there in the valley! So many spectators, racers, families, workers, and more filled Hammertown for a wild week of racing. As qualifying day came around, both Jordan and Tony drove great. Jordan qualified 4th while his father Tony came in at 86th due to an to an alternator error during his qualifying run. During the race, Jordan unfortunately had mechanical failure and was unable to finish. However, Tony in Terremoto kept pushing through mile by mile and made it to the finish line in 32nd position despite starting 86th. Great job to team Genright for getting a vehicle across the checkers. Following the big race, this year we had the “Super Jeep Challenge” grand finale! After running a final event on the KOH short course, a winner was decided and that winner was GRDLOC! Congrats to owner Nic Ashby on the Motor Trend/Build TV “Builder of the Year” award. Overall this year was great year for us and team. We were able to capture a lot of amazing content and cant wait to share it all soon.
